After three wins from their opening three games of the English Premier League season, the early signs are looking positive for Arsenal.
The Gunners blew their opportunity of reaching the Champions League in the final weeks last term but, with that experience under their belts, Mikel Arteta’s side look like they could soon end their wait to return to the head table of European football.
Lessons Learned From Last Season
Defeats to their old rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, meant Arsenal fell short in their goal of landing a top-four finish last season. The Gunners, who are -225 in the football odds from Betfair to finish in the Premier League’s top four this term, ended up two points behind their neighbors Spurs who claimed fourth. Football tips this season now have Arsenal as serious contenders not only for a top-four spot but potentially as candidates for a Premier League title challenge. The North London outfit started the 2021/22 campaign poorly, with defeats to Brentford, Chelsea and Manchester City in their opening three games. Spanish tactician Arteta did manage to inspire a turnaround and the Gunners soon found themselves rising up the table.

The season ultimately ended in disappointment but that experience will stick with this Arsenal squad and they will be eager to learn from what went wrong. Certainly if the first three games are anything to go by, then the Gunners are looking in better shape. Wins over Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Bournemouth took Arsenal to the top of the table after the first three rounds of fixtures. Of course there will be bigger tests to come but it’s a contrasting start to the torrid one endured a year ago.
Title-Winning Experience Comes To Arsenal
The signings of Manchester City stars Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko look set to have a big impact at the Emirates this season. Both players enjoyed Premier League title success at the Etihad Stadium and helped City claim back-to-back English crowns before the pair made the switch to North London.

After the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona during the last campaign, Arsenal have been looking to fill the void left by the Gabon international. Brazil forward Jesus looks to be the ideal replacement and has already made a positive start to his Arsenal career. A brace of goals in the win over Leicester City showed the home crowd at the Emirates what he can bring to the club. Jesus’ movement seems to fit in well at Arsenal and it’s clear to see why Arteta was eager to bring the South American to the capital. Meanwhile, Zinchenko has a wealth of Premier League experience and his presence has helped give Arsenal more stability at the back, while also providing an attacking threat down the flanks.
Arsenal have flattered to deceive at times in the past and it’s still very early days in the new season. However, there are certainly promising signs that suggest the Gunners could soon bring those elusive Champions League nights back to the Emirates.
